Personality: Teddie is given the Star Arcana in game, which is associated with hope, joy and peace. It's a card very fitting for Teddie's personality. When one comes across him, he is usually in a happy mood, shown by the fact that he likes to joke around a lot, mostly by using tons of bear puns. He is also optimistic and always tries to look at the positive side of things to the point that he is getting called a "real half-glass-full-guy" by Labrys, a robot girl that appears in the sequel game Persona 4 Arena. He is also always ready to lend a helping hand, even if he barely knows the person. Thanks to that trait he is actually the one who made it possible for his friends of the Investigation Team to venture between the real world and the TV world in the first place, as he provides the exit and other items to make things easier for the investigation. He also functions sort of as a pillar of support for his friends thanks to these traits, as he doesn't really hold back with cheering them on or up. He is also very confident and thus has no reservations to do things your average normal person would find embarrassing to do.
Teddie has a big weakness for girls and women in general to the point that he kind of idealizes them. Resulting from that, Teddie often flirts with them, though his flirts sometimes extend to the male population as well. When people don't know him he is remotely successful with it in his human form and he uses this to bribe free food for example. This also shows he can be surprisingly cunning and is able to manipulate or blackmail people for his own advantages. At times, his actions and words can sound downright perverted, but it is questionable how much he actually understands about the things he is saying or doing. In the dungeon conversations it is made quite clear, that he has actually no idea what he is talking about or even what he is doing (he didn't even know that he is having a part-time job, for example).
Teddie's mind, in fact, still works like the one of a child mostly. After all, Teddie is a Shadow, not a human, and built his personality through the interactions with the Investigation Team. Thus, social norms as well as the meaning of a lot of words are mostly unknown or completely new to him. Teddie learns fast through the interactions with his environment, but this also means he tends to adapt about almost everything he has seen as a trait of his. This spans from parroting his friends to mimicking their Shadows when he flirts to talking like he is on commercials after he starts working at the shopping center Junes. Further signs of his childlike behavior is that he is extremely blunt from time to time, not knowing that the things he says could be viewed as rude. He is also very dependent on Yosuke, his big brother figure, and Yu, whom he idolizes a lot and relies on them to come and help or save him. Especially at the beginning he behaves a little cowardly, but this starts to change slowly after he gets his Persona. There is also an indication that he dislikes pain and suffering in general, no matter who the victim of it is. His friendship with Nanako is another indicator for his childlike nature, as the two are rather close and it's this relationship which helps him to get his second-tier Persona..
Teddie is also quite passionate and emotional. He gets fired up rather fast, but it's almost as easy to move him almost to tears. He shows to be really grateful for all the things he is allowed to experience ever since he made his friends and is really touched when somebody does something nice for him. Additionally, he loves to have fun, which becomes pretty clear through his interactions with his friends. He makes up poems on the spot and often he exaggerates facts about himself or makes such lame jokes in hopes that the others shoot him down in a comedic routine and gets sad or mad if they don't respond. His outrages can be pretty over the top, so it is hard for others to take it seriously and they tend to get annoyed with his antics at times.
Of course there is also another side of the coin, just like the Star Arcana has a reverse reading, which is associated with self-doubt and depression. Teddie is actually sometimes really hurting on the inside. While he is optimistic and happy for the most part, Teddie can get very easily depressed up to the point that he is ready to commit psychological suicide at one point. He's also prone to get lonely rather fast when nobody familiar is around him. Actually, the only reason why he has become a bear and later on a rather handsome boy instead of a regular violent Shadow is because he of his wish to be liked by humans. In fact, his entire existence and self-awareness are built up on that fact. Throughout the game he questions time and again if it is really alright to be with everyone and if he deserves experiencing the happiness he is feeling while he is with them. He has a complex of sorts about the fact that he isn't really human and thus is unlike his friends. This went so far that he imposed amnesia on himself to forget that he is a Shadow in the first place. His whole confidence is built up on the acceptance he receives, so when he starts doubting himself and his doubts resurface the confidence collapses like a house of cards. His own Shadow, however, possesses the Moon Arcana which stands for illusion, portraying the fact that Teddie had deceived himself into believing that he was something special.
Not all of his more hidden traits are this negative, of course. Even if people don't think so at first, he is extremely dedicated and devoted to his friends. When they are in danger, he proves to be quite courageous and is ready to lay his life down for them in order to protect them. When he is working at Junes he also proves to be quite diligent and doesn't let the heat stop him from giving it his all.
Abilities: -Teddie is shown to be able to create objects from the scratch and they appear almost magically, such as the glasses in his world, the TVs and so on. While they are often created in the TV world, they retain their physical form when the Investigation Team returns to the real world and the present he made for Nanako seems to have been created in the real world.
-Sensing: Teddie seems to have a rather sharp nose and was the one who managed to find the first few victims just through smell. While it becomes mostly useless as time passes, he still can find people if he puts a lot of effort in it.
-Teddie seems to have hidden powers due to being a Shadow. He only uses them once in the game, though, when he thinks his friends are going to die. In that instant he manages to beat a basically unbeatable boss with one hit. How powerful he really is is a mystery, though, and he doesn't really seem to know how to use those powers so he doesn't rely on them. It is unlikely that he'll use them again, especially after gaining his Persona, a power he can control properly.

Exposition/Introspection: Teddie had just wanted to go outside, absorb the beauty of the cherry blossoms - after all, it was only his second time sing thm blossoming so beautifully in his life and he had wanted to tak that all in - but apparently said beautiful nature had another plan for him.
Now he found himself soaked and no matter how many times he had begged for going back inside the school, no matter how hard he had knocked against the windows and doors, nobody opened and nobody answered. It was like in those kind of shows that run on TV late at night, when the heroes couldn't return to their home anymore for some reason and something creepy was waiting for them. He usually turned away at that point, too scared to know what comes next. With a sinking feeling in his stomach, Teddie searched for a place that at least somewhat protected him from the rain. He didn't want to be alone! Not out here! Why was nobody hearing him? He had to fight hard not to let out any sobs, though he wasn't sure anymore if the dampness on his face were his tears or the rain.
"Sensei... Youke..."
The names involuntarily escaped his lips. The two of them were the people he was the most attached to, not that they were hearing him either. It just made him feel even lonelier. A shiver ran down his spine and he started rubbing his arms to warm up when the smell of salt hit his nose. It was different, kind of, from the way the rain in Inaba had smelled. Not that his nose was working as well as it did back home, even after it became worse. It made him think-
It's then when he senses the presence of another person. He tries to force a smile and just hope this person was a nice peron.
